Review: Ben & Jerry's - Americone Dream

Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream features vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl and yes, I am just typing what it says on the picture above.  I get my Ben & Jerry's for $2.99 at Fresh & Easy or when it's on sale at a major supermarket for two for $5.

Since Free Cone Day is just around the corner, I thought I'd crack open my freezer and review some of my favorite Ben & Jerry's flavors.  The Stephen Colbert-approved Americone Dream is a new one for me though, I bought it after my sibs plowed through two pints of Chunky Monkey... well, that and Stephen Colbert's face is on the packaging, and he's funny!
I'm thought it might be too sweet with the caramel swirl but it was super great!  I know... two superlatives rolled into one.  I'm not sure if maybe my freezer temperature was set too low, but the caramel swirl was a liquid drip of rich caramelized goodness!  It goes well with the rich, creamy vanilla ice cream with the fudge-covered waffle cone bits providing the occasional counterpoint of crunchy sugar cone and milk chocolate.  It's like eating vanilla ice cream topped with caramel syrup in a chocolate-covered waffle cone except you don't have to worry about getting the perfect bite.
