Review: Ben & Jerry's - Chunky Monkey

A standby favorite of mine, the aptly-named Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey features banana ice cream as the base and walnut pieces and fudge chunks as the finish.  My local Fresh & Easy carries it for a reasonable $2.99 but occasionally I find it on sale at Ralph's or Albertson's at two for $5.

Chunky Monkey to me is a Ben & Jerry's trademark; I know of other brand that offers a similar taste.  Importantly, the banana ice cream actually tastes like biting into a frozen banana but with the texture of soft ice cream.

I don't know how they came up with the idea to throw in walnuts and fudge chunks but it works out great; they provide just the right amount of variety to the banana ice cream.  Some might find the fudge chunks a little too hard as they are quite solid and come in about somewhat sizeable 3/4-of-an-inch length rectangles.  Other than that, I highly recommend giving Chunky Monkey a try if you haven't.

  1. Chunky Monkey is my second favorite ice cream next to cookies & cream. Plus, my wife hates Chunky Monkey, so that leaves more for me.
