Review: Domino's - Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes

Domino's Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes box
One of a few desserts available at Domino's Pizza, Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes are baked in the pizza oven so that they're crunchy on the outside with gooey, liquid chocolate on the inside.  They're then dusted with powdered sugar and sold at a price of $3.99 for two cakes.

I wasn't expecting much from Domino's Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes, but was surprised to find that they're actually pretty good.  They taste like a freshly baked Oreo cookie but with warm, thick, sweet chocolaty syrup in the center instead of vanilla cream.  If you've had a good, deep-fried Oreo before, the inside is a bit like that; soft and warm.

The crust was very crunchy but quickly gave way to a warm, soft interior.  On the downside, they're a bit on the small side for the price; probably about 2- to 2 1/2-inches in diameter.

Still, Domino's Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes are my pick for the best dessert on Domino's menu but you can get eight deep-fried apple pies at KFC for the same price!

  4. The best thing at Domino's hands down! They are so chocolaty and sweet, perfect for the people with a sweet tooth. But the price is ridiculous for only 2 cakes it should be $1.99 not $3.99.

  6. Domino's website says they are 700 calories for one cake. That's a huge difference from 350...

  7. You're actually referring to calorie for one order which is two servings (1 cake = 1 serving). I do seem to have some of the other info mixed up. I'll go ahead and update to match the info posted on their site.

  8. Exactly, it says 1 cake = 1 serving size that usually means that one cake would be the 700 calories. It doesn't say anything about one order being two. You're able to buy just one as well.

It's very confusing when every other website says 350 then 700 for one cake.
If you're correct then Domino's needs to change their website description.

  9. It looks like their PDF is a bit confusing but they also have an online "Cal-O-Meter" that provided the info for a single cake.

My local Domino's only sells these in pairs though.
