Frozen Friday: Hungry-Man - Beer Battered Chicken

Hungry-Man Beef Battered Chicken in box
The Hungry-Man "Pub Favorite" Beer Battered Chicken frozen dinner features beer battered chicken strips with seasoned potato wedges in a cheddar cheese sauce. As with all Hungry-Man dinners, this one boasts of a pound of food. They're regularly around $3.69 but can be found on sale for $1.50 to $2.00.

While it had a lot of flaws, I really like the Hungry-Man Beer Batter Chicken. True, the chicken batter was soggy but I still enjoyed the texture and flavor of it. Plus, the mechanically separated chicken was very juicy.

As for the potatoes, they were also soggy but still tasty and seasoned. The cheese was nice and gooey as well, but I tried to avoid eating too much since both the chicken and potatoes didn't need more salt (but, they weren't too salty either). If I had something more neutral to pair with it, I'd eat more of the cheese.

I think both the potatoes and the chicken would have been drier if I didn't follow the cooking instructions and just removed the plastic before microwaving. Still, for whatever reason, Beer Battered Chicken finds itself near the top of my go-to frozen dinners list despite obvious flaws.
