Review: Starbucks - Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

Look! They give you a plastic Starbucks mermaid stirrer! Only sometimes though.
Starbucks' Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate is a fall seasonal drink that features a hot chocolate made with mocha sauce and toffee nut syrup (apparently two separate syrups and not the same stuff used for the Toffee Mocha), topped with whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel sauce, and finished with a sprinkled blend of sea salt and Hawaiian Turbinado sugar (i.e. raw sugar). The price for this warm, fall concoction is $2.70 for a 12-ounce Tall.

Starbucks uses a nice, rich, buttery caramel. I usually think it's too strong and sweet in coffee drinks, but it's really good with the mocha toffee flavor!
Not a pretty sight, but it tastes great!
The salt, to borrow the phrase, really kicks the flavor up a notch without actually being very salty.
It looks a little better when you stir it up.
For one reason or another, it isn't as hot as other Starbucks' drinks. I don't mind not burning my hand when I carry it without a sleeve though. The Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate is my favorite fall drink at Starbucks so far. Yes, better than the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Heresy, I know!

  1. mocha sauce and toffee nut syrup (the same stuff used for the Toffee Mocha)

actually the toffee mocha is made with a special toffee mocha syrup (not regular mocha or toffee nut), while the salted caramel hot chocolate is made with regular mocha syrup and toffee nut syrup (two different syrups).
