Review: Wienerschnitzel - Chili Cheese Fries

Wienerschitzel's Chili Cheese Fries feature their shoestring French fries topped with shredded cheese and their trademark chili. The price on an order is $2.19.

None of the Big Three burger chains (McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's) offers chili cheese fries (although Wendy already has chili on the menu, so it wouldn't be too hard for them to do so), so those looking for their chili cheese fries fix have to go foraging elsewhere like Wienerschnitzel or Carl's Jr.
In my experience, chili cheese fries tend to favor thicker-cut fries that tend to hold together better under warm or hot chili. Wienerschnitzel's fries are too thin to hold up well against their chili and aren't enough starch to balance out the saltiness from the chili and cheese.
I've already written about my disappointment with Wienerschnitzel's chili before, so there's nothing new there. At least the cheese was nice and melted and the fries that weren't covered in chili were fine. See the Hat for a much better rendition of chili cheese fries.

  1. I am an extreme french fry lover. Wienerschnitzel is my favorite, ESPECIALLY the chili cheese fries. There have not been many fries that I did not love. Even cold fries are good to me, though there are a few that are not. Some that are fried in grease or poor quality oil become dry, mealy or hard when cooled. I think I will begin to keep track from now on and rate the different french fry vendors I visit. As I said, I truly love Wienerschnitzel chili cheese fries and do not agree that they are too thin to hold up under the chile and cheese as someone mentioned in another posting here.

  3. I've never heard of the Training Table. We have a local chain called The Hat that is awesome for Chili Cheese Fries though.
