Frozen Friday: Healthy Choice - Roasted Chicken Marsala

Healthy Choice's Cafe Steamers Roasted Chicken Marsala promises a "fresh taste unlocked by steam" and features chicken tenderloins with whole grain penne pasta, asparagus, and red peppers in a marsala wine sauce.

Retail price for this one hovers around $3.99 for 10 ounces of food and going down to $2.00 to $3.00 on sale.

I don't know if the dual tray steam cooker really makes any difference in the end result of the product. I'm inclined to think that it would turn out the same regardless but I'm sure ConAgra's R&D shows differently. A few of the pastas still turned out with dry edges and I cooked if the the least amount of time given by the instructions. Still, the dual trays does allow you to use as much or as little of the sauce as you like and it's really easy to cook: no need to vent, rotate, or stir.
As far as meals go, this one is definitely healthy; low in calories, fat, sodium, etc. It tastes healthy as well. By that I don't mean it tastes bad but that it actually feels like your eating a good amount of vegetables and a normal portion of food. It doesn't have much salt and relies on more subtle flavor. The flip side of which is that it might be too bland for some.
The chicken was fairly chewy, more than I would expect from being steamed. The pasta was pretty soft but I didn't mind it. The vegetables didn't retain much flavor and in fact, most of the flavor for the entire dish comes from the sauce which is a seasoned, slightly mushroom-y, flavor.

Still, Healthy Choice's Roasted Chicken Marsala was much better than Claim Jumper's Chicken Marsala which had this sour vinegar note I did not care for at all. Overall I would say it's decent and that I'd get it again due in part to the healthy aspect.
