Review: McDonald's - Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddles

A top-down view of a McDonald's Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddles sandwich.

McDonald's Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddles is for people who want hotcakes, bacon, egg, and cheese but in altogether in a quick-to-eat and portable form i.e. a sandwich.

Basically, the McGriddles is a breakfast sandwich featuring mini, thick fluffy pancakes embedded with little pockets of maple syrup sandwiching the standard breakfast combination of bacon or sausage, eggs, and cheese.

Prices will vary but around here it's $3.89 for breakfast combo with hash browns and coffee or $2.89 for a Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddle alone.

McDonald's Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddles sandwich opened up.

In a bit of Mc-branding each pancake is pressed with a McDonald's logo. The pancake itself is fairly thick and fluffy but with the maple syrup it is a little too sweet and overrides the more mild flavors of the cheese, bacon, and eggs.

The bacon was mostly thin, crisp texture but I could taste its savory, smoky here and there. The cheese was nicely melted and provided a creamy element, while the eggs were nice and fluffy.

I would say the Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddle is mostly sweet with some savory elements.

Still, it's enjoyable and an interesting answer to a question that perhaps no one was asking but hey, it's still on the menu right? I prefer the more conventional breakfast starch of a biscuit or English muffin though.

  1. I buy mine with a hash brown, pop it on the sandwich, and it's an entire breakfast right in the palm of your hand.

  2. Haha, I figured someone must have done it. Maybe I'll try it sometime and put up a review. I know they have hashbrowns in some sandwiches in other countries as a regular menu item.

  3. Just wondering, do the McMuffins also have an omelette-style egg like that? Over here it's like a regular fried egg albeit cooked in a ring to make it a similar shape to the sausage patties. Breakfast bagels here have omelette though.

  4. Nope, they do not. The McMuffins also have a regular egg cooked in a ring over here as well. I think you can request to get an omelet egg instead but I've never tried.

  5. I don't even remember if I've tried the Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddle. I'd like to try it sometime because whenever I've had McGriddles (which I haven't had in a long time), it's usually been the Sausage, Egg & Cheese. And just like with seeing any pics of fast food this makes me hungry for one...
