Review: Arby's - Roast Club Chicken Sandwich

Arby's Roast Chicken Club is one of their premium non-roast beef offering and features slices of oven roasted chicken plus pepper bacon, Swiss cheese, leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, and "cravin'" sauce on a toasted specialty roll.

I picked one up for $3.99 at my local Arby's.

I have to say this was a nice looking sandwich; like something you might pick up at a local deli. I really like the bun. It reminds me a bit of a brioche and is soft but sturdy. It feels nicer than the standard fast food bun or other premium buns at this price point for that matter.
I like Arby's pepper bacon; it has a look and taste that sets it apart from the other brands. But on this occasion, the bacon didn't deliver the crispy.

I got a very good amount of chicken like you would get a good deli. It was moist and tender but also a little mushy.
The cravin' sauce is like a tomato-y mayo which is different but I think I would have preferred a standard mayo here.
Individually the flavors and ingredients were good, but here's the thing: bacon is pretty salty and so are deli meats (i.e. sliced roast chicken) and cravin' sauce. When you balance it out with only a couple slices of lettuce on one slice of tomato, the result is unsurprisingly, pretty salty. Just gimme a lot more lettuce and maybe another slice of tomato and this sandwich would be something nice. As it was, it's just too salty for my liking.

  1. Perhaps the high cost of veggies is forcing the firms to restrict the amount of veggies used.

Curious if Arbys would add more tomato if requested.

Would there be an extra charge?
