Review: Quiznos - Meatball Sub Slider

Quiznos' new Sub Sliders are part of a recent menu overhaul that included the addition of new sliders, wraps, and flatbreads. The new Meatball Sub Sliders include Italian meatballs, all-natural mozzarella, an Italian 3-cheese blend (it seemed like Romano, Parmesan, and Asiago cheese by my guess), and marinara sauce served on a toasted dinner roll.

You get two sliders (mix and match if you like) per order for $4.49. I got these for free courtesy of Quiznos though.

Each slider is toasted and comes with one or two oversized meatballs that are cut in half by the looks of it. It might not sound like a lot, but the meatballs are huge and enough to ensure meaty goodness in every bite. And, meaty good goodness it is: the meatballs are juicy, tender, and well-seasoned with some browning to boot! They provide much of the flavor for the Meatball Sub Sliders.

There's actually not that much marinara (at least not compared to the giant meatballs), but what's there is nicely thickened and tomato-y.

The bun manages to be both squishy soft and resilient, dense with just a slight chew. It's important because meatball and marinara tends to induce lesser buns into falling apart.

While the cheeses add flavor, I wanted some more mozzarella for some oozing gooey-ness. I doubt many people will mind it terribly if the meat-to-cheese ratio is far tilted towards the meat though.

Overall, Quiznos' new Meatball Sub Sliders are impressively good. Plenty of tasty meatball, just enough bun to hold it, and some cheese to set it off. Just a little more mozzarella please!
