Review: Tostitos - Artisan Toasted Southwestern Spices Tortilla Chips

One of the newest additions to Tostitos Artisan Recipes line of chips, Toasted Southwestern Spices feature a 9-grain blend of tortilla chips sprinkled with a blend of garlic, cumin, red pepper, paprika, and other seasonings.

A 9.75-ounce bag retails for $3.99, but it's not uncommon to find them on sale for $2 or so.

Like the rest of the Artisan Recipes line, these chips have a nuttiness to them that remind me of Sun Chips, but with a different texture.

Of the other Tostitos Artisan Recipe chips I've tried, these are the most subtle in flavor and more ideal for topping and dipping. There's no overriding flavor with the seasoning; it's altogether familiar, but new, and also pretty spicy. I didn't care for it much at first, but it grew on me. It's pretty low salt for a chip, so I could pick up and enjoy more of the tortilla chip flavor.

Overall, not my favorite Tostitos Artisan Recipe chip (I still prefer Roasted Garlic and Black Bean the best), but Tostitos Toasted Southwestern Spice tortilla chips deliver on an interesting and different flavor, I haven't come across before in a chip. I'm not sure I'd get it again over other chips, but I'm glad I tried it.
