Review: Keebler - Cinnamon Roll Cookies

Keebler's new Cinnamon Roll Cookies are soft-baked with Cinnabon cinnamon and drizzled with cream cheese flavor icing. They're basically supposed to give you the flavor of a cinnamon roll in cookie form.

They retail for $4.29 for a 10-ounce package at my local supermarket.

Insofar as making cookies that taste like cinnamon rolls, Keebler mostly succeeds. There's a prevalent cinnamon flavor throughout the cookie and the icing delivers a weird cream cheese taste.

What's missing is the texture and tactile cues of the cinnamon roll: the soft bready roll, the melted cinnamon sugar, and the creamy icing.

Instead, there's a texture similar to a Chewy Chips Ahoy cookie, but not as rich. There's a soft, almost gummy quality to the swirl that I can't say I cared for; I think a cinnamon creme filling would have worked better.

If I'm looking for a cinnamon roll, I'd rather just have the real thing. And, if it's cinnamon in a cookie that I have a hankering for, I'd rather just have a snickerdoodle.
