Review: Nabisco - Chewy Chips Ahoy! Gooey Caramel Cookies

Nabisco Chewy Chips Ahoy! Gooey Caramel Cookies feature the familiar soft-baked chocolate cookie with a gooey caramel center.

A 10-ounce package tends to cost around $3 (around $2 if on sale).

A good thing about Chewy Chips Ahoy is that they're pretty small and easy to portion control. The texture of the cookie itself was moist, soft, and quite pliable; you can bend them quite a bit before they break. The Gumby of the cookie kingdom! It's a bit crumbly, but small enough to just pop in your mouth.

The chocolate chips were nice and there's plenty enough for every bite (unless you're taking the smallest of nibbles).

Of the gooey-centered Chewy Chips Ahoy that I've tried, the caramel is the gooey-est which a nice, semi-liquid texture. The flavor wasn't too strong and mostly sweet. I would have like a bit more of the buttery and slightly bitter, but this was pretty standard caramel.

All-in-all, a pretty decent cookie. Chocolate chip and caramel isn't my preferred combination, but these Chips Ahoy make it work pretty well. I would be careful of heating these as it seems like the caramel would get really hot, really fast. I'm still waiting for a gooey peanut butter center though.

  3. I noticed that it tastes better when I ate it slowly than in just a couple of bites.

  4. I tried them this morning. Not impressed. My grandma's oatmeal cookies were to die for, but unfortunately, she died many years ago.
