News: Carl's Jr./Hardee's - New Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich

While most fast food chains are offering some sort of battered and deep-fried fish option around this time of year, Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are offering a grilled fish option with the new Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich.

The sandwich features a charbroiled Atlantic cod fillet, tartar sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a honey wheat bun.

The Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich is priced at $3.99 each and is also available in a combo with fries and a drink for $6.49. There's a $1 off coupon for the combo on the Carl's Jr. website here and on the Hardee's website here.

Also, if your local Carl's Jr./Hardee's is also a Green/Red Burrito, they're also offering a Charbroiled Cod Fish Taco for $2.39.

The commercial for the sandwich ran locally in several markets during the Super Bowl and featured SI swimsuit model (and possible cover girl) Nina Agdal following in the footsteps of last year's Kate Upton TV spot for the Southwest Patty Melt.

You can check it out below:

If you still want deep-fried fish, Carl's Jr. also offers the Carl's Catch Fish Sandwich as well as Fish and Chips, while Hardee's offers the Fish Supreme and a Fish 'n' Chips Basket.

If the sandwich does well, it might well find its way onto the menu permanently.

  1. Walked into my local Carl's Jr. yesterday to buy one of these new fish sandwiches. Saw the price per sandwich was $4.99. Turned around and walked right out.

Maybe there was a mix-up between this restaurant and corporate on the pricing so I'll check it out again today. But if it is still is $5, forget it.

  2. 800mg of sodium? Is this salt cod?

    That's ridiculous!

  3. Why is there a difference in nutritional values for the same sandwich between the 2 restaurants (Carl's Jr. and Hardee"s)?

  5. They tend to be in different markets/regions of the U.S. so it's possible that they have different preparations to account for different tastes.

Also, because they are technically different chains, they probably tested two separate sandwiches and from one sandwich to another, there's going to be some variations in nutrition. Nutritional information is just a guide; it's not exact. Not every sandwich will have the same amount of protein; it's going to vary.

  7. Its a good sandwich if you like fish tasting buns with a fish wafer about 1/4 inch thick. I ate two of them with BOGOF coupon & I still wanted to go to McD for their Filet-o-Fish.
Sandwich is not worth the $3.99, maybe $1.99 at best.
Now we know how the commercial got paid for.

  8. What is the source of the saturated fat content? Why is it so high?

  9. They don't list it on their website. However, on their other fish sandwich, the tartar sauce is 9 grams of fat.

  10. I would guess the tartar sauce... but you really think 2.5g is very high?

  11. The concept of a not-fried fish sandwich is great but executed poorly. The fish portion is so thin that it cannot be tasted apart from the bun and garnish and would probably be even worse without the needlessly fatty tartar sauce. I would pay more to have a substantial piece of cod or haddock

  12. i would love to know the facts if the sandwich is lettuce wrapped

  13. According to their website, the bun is about 200 calories and lettuce is about 10 calories.

  14. How many calories is just the fish pay along, without the sauce, bun, lettuce or Tom?

  15. I've tried the char broiled cod twice and I think it's horrible. Never again.not a good taste and bad value at 3.99
