News: Starbucks Launches Asian Dolce Latte Across Asia

Starbucks Asian Dolce Latte is their latest offering in the Asia Pacific region.

The drink was first introduced at the first Starbucks store to open in Vietnam last month and seems to be the Starbucks answer to cafe sua da (literally "coffee milk ice"), a popular coffee drink in Vietnam that consists of strong dark roast coffee and condensed milk.

Besides adding creaminess and sweetness, the condensed milk gives the cafe sua da (or Vietnamese iced coffee) a thicker, more substantial quality.

The Asian Dolce Latte layers Starbucks espresso, steamed milk, and "dolce sauce." Dolce sauce is described as "a blend of different [types of] milk" that adds a "smooth and rich velvety texture" to the drink. The drink also features a stronger coffee flavor as a 12-ounce "Tall" comes with a double-shot of espresso rather than the standard single (Ventis and Grandes comes with a double-shot normally). The drink is available hot or iced, and can be topped with espresso whipped cream and a dusting of espresso powder.

That tagline for the drink in promotional materials is "Inspired by Asia. Created by Starbucks."

  1. Ooh, sounds good. I wish it was available in the US. I do sometimes make homemade iced coffee w/ sweetened condensed milk-it's like knocking 2 birds w/ 1 stone.
