Review: Krispy Kreme - Glazed Banana Creme Pie

Krispy Kreme's Glazed Banana Creme Pies is one of those convenient turnover-type pies that are basically a pie crust pocket filled with banana creme.

They're only here for a limited time and offered for $1.09. I've never seen these in my area, but Krispy Kreme provided me with two for review.

The crust on each pie was pretty soft (and I don't think it was supposed to be). Like soggy soft. It was like the creme inside softened it somehow. I've tried Krispy Kreme pies before and they didn't have this problem, but both pies had a overly soft crust.

I liked the banana creme filling, while not the most attractive color (but probably more like actual banana-colored), there's a tasty and strong, but not artificial, banana flavor to it. There's a smooth and substantial consistency to it that's just thick enough stay (mostly) inside the pie. It's also not overly sweet and paired better with the pie crust's sugary glaze.

Overall, I liked the banana creme filling on Krispy Kreme's Glazed Banana Creme Pie quite a bit. The crust was fairly lackluster, but not quite a deal breaker for me (although I can see it being so for some). Again, I don't think the crust was supposed to be soft (but I ate it anyway... For the blog!), and with a regular, harder pie crust, these would be pretty enjoyable for the banana-inclined.

  1. Well I have made this pie a few times. It goes, together nicely however i found the mixture a little too thick to just pour over the bananas.Very easy and, i loved the taste and texture of the cream layer.
