Review: Remington - Teriyaki Flavored Hunters Sausage

Remington's Teriyaki Flavored Hunters Sausage are basically teriyaki flavored pork jerky sausage.

A 6-ounce bag carries a suggested retail of $6.49, but I received these courtesy of Trail Steaks who licenses the Remington brand for jerky.

Each jerky sausage is probably about 3-inches or so with a fairly strong teriyaki/smoked aroma. The meat is pretty firm and the casing has a decent snap.

Unlike strip jerky, there's a bit of moisture and even juiciness to these without that oily taste you sometimes get. There's a decent chew to it, but nothing to make you work your jaw too hard.

The taste reminds me of a salty mix between a hot dog and soy sauce. These really don't have the sweet notes commonly associated with teriyaki, but then again, I've never come across any jerky that does.

Overall, Remington's Teriyaki Flavored Hunters Sausage are some pretty tasty jerky sausages. At the price, which is fairly standard for jerky, it's a bit high to just sit around eating these at home, but that's probably why they're marketed as something to take with you as you go forward to meet the Great Outdoors (i.e. for camping, hunting, hiking, etc).
