Review: Dunkin' Donuts - Blueberry Cake Donut

Dunkin' Donuts' Blueberry Cake Donut is your standard cake donut interspersed with little blueberry-flavored bits and glazed.

I picked one up while in Vermont for 99 cents.

The best thing about Dunkin's Blueberry Cake Donut is that they offer one at all; none of the donut shops in my neighborhood offer them.

Sadly, it's about as mediocre a blueberry donut that I've ever eaten. That's not to say it's bad. It's still a donut after all, but it's very unnoteworthy.

It wasn't very fresh. I'd guess at least a day old, but it still managed to exhibit a slight crust. I'm guessing the glaze helps a bit.

More importantly, the blueberry flavor isn't too strong and the bits are fairly small. The donut doesn't actually contain blueberries, but rather contains "flavor crystals" according to the ingredients. The result is a rather plain cake donut with light hints of blueberry.

Overall, Dunkin' Donut's Blueberry Cake Donut is decent as far as donuts go and just a little better than packaged store-bought donuts.

I always pick up a few Blueberry Cake Munchkins when I go to Dunkin Donuts...never had the whole donut though. Looks decent.

  2. The shops here by me all offer a blueberry cake donut. Cake donuts in general are awesome

  3. Yeah, it's decent. But there's this place like 40 minutes away where you can get them with real blueberries and fresh out of the fryer.

  4. Yeah, I don't know why none of the donut shops in my area offer them. There are a couple of places farther out that offer them and they sell really well.
