Local Review: Grill 'Em All - Pig Champion

The Pig Champion is Grill 'Em All's version of a breakfast burger. It's like a whole breakfast plate, but on a burger and features a champagne hollandaise sauce, a round of Canadian bacon, a fried egg, and field greens on a half-pound medium-rare hamburger patty, sandwiched inside an egg bread bun.

One of these will run you an even $10.

All of Grill 'Em All's burgers are cooked medium rare, which doesn't bother me at all, but I know plenty of people who get squeamish by the sight of blood, so be aware it can cooked "well done" if you're inclined.

On this occasion, the bottom bun soaked through and ended up fairly soggy. Maybe a thicker heel is needed for the juicier burgers.

Everything was cooked really well from the charred, juicy burger patty to the seared Canadian bacon to the perfectly-cooked peppered, runny egg. The green were really fresh and crisp. I'm not sure I noticed the hollandaise though.

That being said, the breakfast combination was good, but it didn't wow me. The flavors ended up being a bit more subtle than I'd like, particularly with the ham/Canadian bacon. It didn't hold up so well against the giant beef patty and I found myself wishing for some crispy, salty, smoky, delicious bacon.

Overall, the Pig Champion is a solid choice if you want some breakfast with your burger, but the flavors don't quite develop to the level I want and I'd choose the more basic FTW as my go-to burger at Grill 'Em All.

  2. I always want to go in, but it looks too hip. Like they'll start talking shit because I don't shop at the bad boy clothes store.
