News: Green Burrito - New San Diego Burrito

Carl's Jr./Green Burrito co-branded stores are purporting to offer a Southern California flavor with the new San Diego Burrito.

The burrito features charbroiled steak and the brand's natural-cut French fries rolled up in a flour tortilla along with guacamole, salsa, and shredded Jack and cheddar.

According to John Koncki, director of product development at Carl’s Jr. and Green Burrito: “Down there near the border, many Mexican restaurants offer steak burritos with French fries in them so, of course, we had to try them and they were great!"

While Carl's Jr. is terming the style as a "San Diego Burrito," in San Diego, it's called a "California Burrito" and attributed to the local beach culture.

The burrito is available a la carte for $3.99 or can be had in a combo for $5.99.

If you're looking to try the San Diego Burrito, Carl's Jr. has a "$1 off" coupon on their website here.

  2. just tried it. not too bad, kinda muddled flavor. nothing really stands out at all. in fact, you don't even notice the fries (of which i think i had 3)

the guac was all at one end, and the salsa was at the other end, leaving the middle dry and bland. barely any cheese.

    this was a failed attempt.
