Review: McDonald's - Berry Pomegranate Smoothie

McDonald's new Berry Pomegranate Smoothie features blueberry and raspberry purees with pomegranate juice as part of a smoothie base mix blended with ice and lowfat yogurt.

A small 12-ounce cup retails for $2.29 in my area, but I received this one courtesy of McDonald's.

Blueberry and raspberry aren't strong flavors compared to McDonald's other smoothie drinks (Mango Pineapple and Strawberry Banana). The berries are apparent but aren't as impactful as the more apparent tart notes of the other smoothies.

The result is a blueberry-raspberry flavor tinged with an end note of pomegranate. It's a bit watery, but refreshing. The Wild Berry Smoothie (which added strawberries to the mix) that it replaced offered a stronger profile.

The consistency was smooth and easy to drink without being too thin and liquid.

Overall, McDonald's Berry Pomegranate Smoothie wasn't a favorite of mine, but might be yours if you prefer a lighter, refreshing smoothie over the tarter, full-flavored options on McDonald's menu.
