News: Chobani Supplies Greek Yogurt for School Meals

The USDA is testing out the addition of Chobani Greek yogurt to K-12 school meal programs in New York, Idaho, Arizona and Tennessee. Chobani was chosen through a competitive bid process for the pilot program, which will evaluate Greek yogurt as a healthy protein option for students.

Greek yogurt's primary benefit over regular yogurt is that it contains roughly twice the protein, but also tends to cost a little more. It also has a thicker, more substantial texture.

The USDA is scheduled to determine the next steps regarding Greek yogurt by December 2013.

School lunches seem to be getting healthier these days. I don't remember even getting regular yogurt with my school meals as a kid.
