Neat! Haagen-Daz - App Gives Concert While Ice Cream Softens

You know how sometimes when you grab your ice cream out of the fridge it can be rock hard if your freezer is too cold? Well, thanks to Haagen-Daz, there's an app for that! Sorta.

Haagen-Daz now offers a free "Concerto Timer" app for the iOS (i.e for iPhones and iPads), which plays a 2-minutes long virtual violin concerto when you run the app and point your camera at a carton of Haagen-Daz (or any other ice cream apparently).

Why two minutes? That's the ideal time for ice cream to soften or, according to Haagen-Daz: "the exact amount of time needed to prepare [your] Haagen-Dazs ice cream in order to get the full, rich consistency and allow all the flavors to fully bloom. Allowing the ice cream to soften slightly – also called tempering – for two minutes enhances the texture and exposes fans to the craftsmanship of premium ingredients that is characteristic of Haagen-Dazs ice cream, gelato, sorbet and frozen yogurt."

The app works with one or two cartons of Haagen-Daz and aligns its graphics with the top of the carton lids.

You can download and try the app from the Apple iTunes App Store via your iOS device.

  1. Chobani recently released their own version of Gogurt but with Greek yogurt. It's possibly they'll end up using it for school lunches as well as for retail.
