Frozen Friday: Boston Market - Turkey Breast Medallions

Boston Market's Turkey Breast Medallions frozen entree is a fairly standard turkey dinner. It features turkey breast medallions, "home-style" mashed potatoes and gravy, plus carrots and green beans.

It weighs in at 14-ounces for $3.49 (bought for $2 on sale).

There was a decent amount of turkey slices and they had a good flavor. They weren't very tender or moist though, and were a bit on the dry side.

The mashed potatoes were fairly run-of-the-mill, but had a bit of a powdery graininess to it that you sometimes get with cheaper frozen meals. There's a distinct flavor that's the same as the mashed potatoes you get from an actual Boston Market restaurant.

The gravy was pretty standard but tasty. It kept the turkey's dryness in check.

The vegetables were better than average for the segment. They weren't overcooked and retained much of their flavor and texture with very little in the way of seasoning.

Overall, Boston Market's Turkey Breast Medallions frozen meal was fairly standard and most notable for capturing the distinct flavor of Boston Market's mashed potatoes.

  1. The Boston Market frozen dinners and Boston Market restaurant are two different beasts entirely. Remember that when you eat a dissatisfying frozen dinner, because it's not the same high quality or flavor of food you'd get in the restaurant. Another company slaps the Boston Market name on their medocre frozen dinners. Even the mac and cheese, which looks exactly like the restaurant version on the box picture, is a poor representation of the restaurant version. The restaurant has great food; the frozen dinners are another story.

  2. I love Boston Market frozen dinners, but twice now I have been disappointed with the Turkey Medallions meal. The veggies and potatoes are ok, but the turkey tastes terrible. It has a musty sort of lingering taste that is anything but pleasant. I have zero complaints about any of the rest of their meals though....
