Review: Taco Bell - Mountain Dew Typhoon Freeze

Taco Bell's Mountain Dew Typhoon Freeze is a bright red ice slush drink flavored with Mountain Dew and tropical punch.

A 16-ounce cup is normally $1.99, but I picked this up for $1 during Happier Hour.

Freeze are pretty much Icees/Slushies with a bit of a price premium (places like 7-Eleven and Burger King offer them closer to a buck) unless you get them during Happier Hour. This didn't taste as fizzy as a Slurpie though.

The Mountain Dew Freeze flavors are Taco Bell exclusives taken from previous limited-time drink flavors.

The flavor tastes mostly of tropical punch and features a strong pineapple note but without the tartness. It doesn't taste much like Mountain Dew and is like a toned down Hawaiian Punch.

Overall, Taco Bell's Mountain Dew Typhoon Freeze is a good choice if you like fruity flavors without tanginess (I like more citrus-y notes however).

  1. I went to Taco Bell yesterday to get a frozen lemonade, but unfortunately they had been replaced with these drinks. I tried this flavor, and did not like it at all. I don't know if I've ever had Mountain Dew before -- I put the odd flavor I was tasting down to that, but now reading this review I guess I was wrong. To me, it tasted like some odd chemical mix, I couldn't pin down any real flavor. I tossed it out after a couple sips.

  2. Mountain Dew Typhoon Freeze sounds like a crappy new ride at Six Flags.
