Review: McDonald's - White Chocolate Mocha

McDonald's White Chocolate Mocha is the newest addition to their holiday menu and features Rainforest Alliance Certified espresso, white chocolate-flavored syrup, and steamed milk topped with whipped cream.

A 12-ounce small-size cup goes for $2.39 but I received this one courtesy of McDonald's.

The milk foam never seems to stick around in my McDonald's lattes. By the time I get home (5 to 10 minutes to the nearest McDonald's), there's nary a bubble in sight and it just looks like milky coffee.

The flavor was good though. I was able to detect balanced notes of white chocolate and, importantly, coffee. There was also some chocolate notes, because whoever made my coffee also included a chocolate drizzle on top. To round it off, the stronger flavors were smoothed out by creamy milk and whipped cream (which also dissolved into my coffee by the time I got home).

Surprisingly, especially with white chocolate drinks, I didn't find the White Chocolate Mocha to be overly sweet. The sweetness level hit a pretty good middle ground for me.

Overall, McDonald's White Chocolate Mocha is pretty good on a cold winter's day. I don't generally find white chocolate to be a holiday flavor but I particularly liked McDonald's version for its moderate sweetness.
