News: New Tea Soup at Starbucks' Teavana Stores

Starbucks' Teavana brand just recently opened its first Los Angeles area Tea Bar location in Beverly Hills and, with it, brought a number of new menu items including a new tea soup.

The new tea soup is called "Genmaicha Miso Tea Soup" and features a Gyokuro Genmaicha green tea, miso, and ginger broth with tofu, fresh baby spinach, and green scallions. Genmaicha (literally "brown rice tea" in Japanese) is a blend of roasted brown rice and green tea, while miso soup is a Japanese fermented soybean soup.

Other new food items include:

- Butternut Squash Couscous Salad - Israeli couscous, red quinoa, butternut squash, yellow curry, and currants in a citrus vinaigrette.

- Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich - soft herb and garlic cheese, quartered artichoke hearts, fire-roasted red peppers, chopped kalamata olives, and fresh baby spinach, served warmed on a panini roll.

There are also some new drinks:

- Tea Smoothies - tea blended with Greek yogurt and fresh fruit: available flavors include Mixed Berry, Banana Chai, and Matcha Avocado.

- Apple Oolong Chia Fresca - a blend of Oolong and Pu-erh teas shaken with cold-pressed apple juice and hydrated white chia seeds.

- Sparkling Kona Breeze Iced Tea - Pineapple Kona Pop and Tranquility Tea blended with pineapple coconut water and lightly carbonated.
