Review: Trader Joe's - Matcha Green Tea Latte Mix

Trader Joe's Matcha Green Tea Latte Mix is an instant sweetened green tea latte mix that you can quickly stir into a iced or hot green tea latte.

An 8-oz canister was $3.99 and good for about 8 servings.

To get this to dissolve properly, you need some hot water. It's not like instant cocoa where it works just as well if you stir it into cold water/or milk. But like instant cocoa, you'll still end up with some sediment at the bottom of your cup.

Since summer is in full swing, I decided to mix me up an iced one. After dissolving the mix in 3 ounces of hot water, you just pour it over ice.

The result is a somewhat creamy, very refreshing, and lightly-sweetened green tea drink. There's a moderate cool green tea flavor to it without the bitterness that you usually get with matcha. It brings to mind a lighter and drinkable version of Green Tea ice cream.

I tried the drink hot as well and maybe it's the heat talking, but I prefer the iced version.

Overall, Trader Joe's Matcha Green Tea Latte makes for a very pleasant and milky green tea drink. There's a nice cooling effect to it and it's ideal if you're turned off by the more bitter qualities of tea. If you want a richer, creamier drink, I'd suggest making it with milk or blending it into ice cream for a shake.

Also for $3.99, it costs about the same as buying a similar drink at Starbucks or whatnot.
