Review: Claim Jumper - Roasted Tri Tip

Claim Jumper's Roasted Tri Tip features slow-roasted certified Angus Beef sliced over an herb peppercorn demi-glace served with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. It's only served medium rare to medium, so I went with medium rare.

It was $12.29 during lunch.

I ended up one of the more fat-laced cuts of tri tip, but it was cooked to a nice medium rare. The beef was slightly chewy, maybe a thinner cut would be better as I've had more tender tri tip in sandwiches. The flavor was decent but a little under-seasoned for tri trip. I think the peppercorn demi-glace is supposed to offset that but, while it was pretty tasty and peppery, there wasn't that much of it to go around.

The vegetables offered a nice medley with zucchini, yellow squash, onions, and carrots. They were seasoned well and roasted very lightly, which is nice if you prefer your veggies firm (but not so nice if you like soft veggies). I liked it though.

The potatoes were pretty good with a mix of smooth and chunky texture and a measured amount of salt, cream, and butter.

Overall, Claim Jumper's Roasted Tri Tip was decent. I ended up enjoying the sides better than the main entree though.
