Review: Lay's Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese Potato Chips

Lay's Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese Potato Chips purport to meld their classic potato chips with the flavor of bacon mac & cheese.

I picked up a 2-and-7/8-oz bag for $1.49.

This one is probably the least novel of this year's crop of "Do Us A Flavor" contestants; bacon and cheese are pretty run-of-the-mill chip flavors, even if paired together.

That being said, the chips do taste a lot like the creamy cheese sauce in mac & cheese with a smoky bacony finish. It's a pretty familiar flavor, especially since cheddar finds its way into quite a few chip flavors. The taste isn't too heavy, so you can still get a sense of the underlying potato chip.

Overall, Lay's Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese Potato Chips are pretty good, but are too similar to already existing chip flavors to really warrant their own bag. It feels like something that's Frito-Lay has already done before.
