Review: Papa John's - Applepie

Papa John's Applepie is basically their Cinnapie, but topped with an apple filling rather than a cinnamon filling. The rest is the same brown sugar streusel and white icing drizzle on a thin pizza crust.

I picked one up for $4.99.

The crust didn't turn out so well and could have used a couple of extra minutes in the oven. It was a little soft and didn't really compare well to pie crust, which has more flavor and texture.

Other than that, the apple filling tastes better than the cinnamon filling. It offers the standard sweet and tangy notes you expect and, like the cinnamon filling, it also has cinnamon in it.

The icing added an extra dose of sugar, while the oats didn't really do much for me. It didn't seem to matter if they were there or not.

Overall, I liked Papa John's Applepie better than the Cinnapie, but found the crust to be a bit lacking and tasteless (and maybe a little undercooked on this occasion).
