Dunkin' Donuts Introduces New Croissant Donuts

Dunkin' Donuts launches new Croissant Donuts at participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants nationwide starting Monday, November 3, 2014.

The new donuts features a ring of flaky croissant glazed like a donut.

According to Jeff Miller, Dunkin' Brands Executive Chef and VP of Culinary Innovation (i.e. the guy that is in charge of coming up with their new stuff), "the Croissant Donut has 24 layers of buttery dough and is covered with the same sweet distinctive glaze used in our Glazed Donuts,"

Croissant Donuts will only be made in limited quantities and served each day, while supplies last. They get their own specially branded white windowed gift box and carry a suggested retail price of $2.49. They will only be available for a limited time.

Interestingly, while the Croissant Donuts are new for Dunkin' here in the States, they introduced them last year in a few countries abroad. Is Krispy Kreme next to offer them in the U.S.? The rival chain has also offered them in other countries. Of course, back at home, both were beaten to the punch by Jack in the Box.

Either way, it seems a little bit late to join the party when select Croissant Donuts can already be found at select supermarket bakeries as well as local ones.
