Review: Kettle Brand Jalapeno Potato Chips

Kettle Brand's Jalapeno Potato Chips feature their signature kettle-cooked potato chips with a jalapeno-flavored spice mix.

An 8.5-oz bag cost me $2.50 on sale.

Like all Kettle Brand potato chips, these have that substantially thick, oily crunch and fried potato taste, but oddly they don't really taste like jalapenos at all. Well, beyond the heat anyway; of which, there's a pretty good amount. There's a decent amount of tongue burning with these.

So why do these jalapeno-flavored chips not taste like jalapeno? Well, for one the seasoning counts various sugars as its top ingredients. Also in the mix is garlic, onion, and parsley, which provide most of the flavor. I didn't get that jalapeno note like I did with Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos.

Overall, Kettle Brand's Jalapeno Potato Chips don't live up to the name. They're tasty but are more like "Spicy Sweet Onion-Garlic" potato chips.
