Review: Zaxby's Game Day Fillet Sandwich

Zaxby’s Game Day Fillet features a crispy fried chicken breast fillet on a lightly toasted bun.

I picked up the Game Day Fillet meal for $5.49. That includes a side and a small drink. If you just want the sandwich alone, it goes for $3.49.

The first thing I noticed was the hearty size of the chicken breast itself. It’s noticeably wider than the bun, which is good considering that it is the only real feature of this sandwich. While you can add on extra produce or toppings, the sandwich will come bare by default.

Fortunately, the chicken did have a good flavor. It’s a bit spicier than Zaxby’s regular chicken fingers but the heat was fair and welcome. The fillet was crispy on the outside but still remained tender throughout, especially at the thicker center of the sandwich.

The bun is fairly standard, but it was soft and it held together well under the weight and grease of the chicken.

Overall, the Zaxby’s Game Day Fillet is tasty but very basic. If you prefer your chicken dressed up a bit, you may want to add some toppings and condiments. However, just the fillet alone warrants giving this sandwich a try.
