Review: Carl's Jr.-Green Burrito - Crisp Burritos

Carl's Jr.-Green Burrito's Crisp Burritos feature seasoned ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, and jalapenos rolled up in a flour tortilla and "crisped" to a golden brown.

It cost me $3.49 for an order of two.

These are basically mini-chimichangas (i.e. a fried burrito, which is as awesome as it sounds... usually anyway). They're about the size of an egg roll you might get at a Chinese takeout place, only fatter/thicker.

The flour tortilla had a very thin, slightly crispy shell with squishy soft layers underneath. There was a satisfying and buoyant feel to each burrito due to the way it was wrapped. The down side was there was way too much tortilla to each Crisp Burrito.

Inside, all I found was seasoned ground beef. I didn't see any cheese or jalapenos although there was just a touch of heat to the beef, which I guess must have come from the jalapenos.

The beef had a nice, nuanced flavor and there was a good amount, but that wasn't enough. I found myself wishing for enough cheese to see and *gasp* taste... or even some beans or rice to break up the monotony. The Crisp Burritos were recommended with guacamole (for an added charge), but I don't see that filling the void.

Overall, Carl's Jr.-Green Burrito's Crisp Burritos were a disappointing miss for me. While I found the various textures enjoyable, the beef wasn't enough to alleviate the flavor boredom.
