Frozen Friday: Marie Callender's - Meat Loaf & Gravy

Marie Callender's Meat Loaf & Gravy frozen meal features two slices of meatloaf in a "home-style" gravy with sour cream & chives mashed potatoes and corn.

It cost me $2 on sale for a 14-oz box.

The meatloaf was a bit too finely ground and just a little chewy. There wasn't too much flavor to it despite little bits of greenery combined with the meat here and there. The box describes it as topped with slices of mushrooms but they were tiny bits that were hard to make out.

I was hoping the gravy might help the meatloaf, but rather than a meaty brown gravy, it was more of a tangy onion and mushroom gravy that wasn't quite working for me.

The mashed potatoes were a nice rendition of whipped potatoes but didn't have much in the way of sour cream and chives.

The corn was just a little overcooked and it looked like they were going for the healthier route and nixed the butter (or reasonable facsmile thereof). Still, a dash of black pepper or other seasoning would make it a little more interesting.

Overall, Marie Callender's Meat Loaf & Gravy frozen meal was just okay for me. While the corn and mashed potatoes were competent, the meat loaf and gravy disappointed.
