Review: Wawa - 3 Cheese Pretzel Melt

Wawa’s Three Cheese Pretzel Melt features a slice of American, cheddar, and provolone cheese on a pretzel bun.

I picked one up for $3.99.

Available at the counter heating tray, the pretzel melt is one of Wawa’s newer creations. While I was a little miffed about forking over 4 bucks for a meatless sandwich, I nonetheless enjoyed the Three Cheese Pretzel Melt.

The pretzel bun is soft and rich with flavor. It tastes more like an actual pretzel than any other pretzel bun I’ve had from a fast food restaurant or convenience store.

The combination of cheeses works well to make a surprisingly interesting sandwich. I was expecting it to be a bit boring but each cheese is uniquely noticeable.

Overall, the Three Cheese Pretzel Melt was satisfying. I’d compare it to the soft pretzel sticks often seen on appetizer menus, but with a more adventurous cheese dip. You are gambling a little since it’s hard to know how long the sandwiches have been in the heater, but it’s worth the risk to try it at least once.
