Review: Welch's - Strawberry PB&J Bite Size Snacks

Welch's Strawberry PB&J Bite Size Snacks are creamy peanut butter balls filled with a strawberry jam-like filling.

A 6.4-oz box cost me $2.50 and contained 8 single-serving pouches.

The outer coating is a creamy candy coating that counts peanut butter among its ingredients. It had a smooth, milk chocolate-like consistency and a nice peanut butter flavor. Similar to a Whopper or similar chocolate malt balls, the coating has a waxen sheen to it to keep it from melting too easily in your hands.

Inside each ball is a strawberry-flavored fruit jelly center that reminds me of fruit jelly snacks. It had a more solid consistency than jam and delivered a similar strawberry flavor.

Combined, the two components mimicked the peanut butter and strawberry jam quite well but almost reflexively had me wondering where the bread was.

Overall, Welch's Strawberry PB&J Bite Snacks make for a pretty interesting snack that also tastes pretty good. You get a nice dose of the classic pairing and a contrasting combination of a smooth, melt-y coating and a soft jelly center.
