Review: Starbucks - Double-Smoked Bacon, Cheddar, & Egg Breakfast Sandwich

Starbucks' Double-Smoked Bacon, Cheddar & Egg Breakfast Sandwich features smoked bacon, cheddar, and egg on a croissant.

I bought one for $4.45.

True to the name, the bacon was very smoky with a delicious, porky flavor that wasn't too salty, as far as bacon goes. Unfortunately, it wasn't crispy at all and, despite appearances, was pretty soft all around.

The cheese looked like melted cheddar but was only good for covering half the sandwich. It was a no-show flavor-wise. I love cheddar so it made me pretty sad.

The egg was as you'd expect if you cooked an egg until it wasn't runny at all, then refrigerated it, and then warmed it back up. It's not great but it tasted like egg and wasn't dry. It'd probably be better if they just went with a scrambled egg patty.

The croissant was very buttery with a decent flakiness. It crisped up very nicely out of the toaster oven (as breads are wont to do). It was a little dense though.

Overall, Starbucks' Double-Smoked Bacon, Cheddar & Egg Breakfast Sandwich was just okay for me (mostly because the bacon and croissant were tasty). They need a lot more cheddar in the sandwich to merit actually including it in the name. I much prefer their Bacon & Gouda Breakfast Sandwich, which is just better all around.
