Review: Hostess - Glazed Donettes

Hostess Glazed Donettes are mini cake donuts covered in a sweet glaze.

A package of six donuts cost me an even $1.

For whatever reason, Hostess Donettes' main flavors are Powdered Sugar, Chocolate, Devil's Food Chocolate, and Crumb (now Crunch). It wasn't until fairly recently that they added Glazed to the mix.

While the donuts offered a bit of squish when I gave the package a little squeeze, they were still on the dry side when I bit into them. The crumb appeared to be airier than your typical cake donut, which I suppose is what gives them a bit of softness on the initial pick up but not so much once the chewing starts.

The glaze was fairly light and not too sticky (although that might vary depending on how hot it is out) for an enjoyable, even sweetness.

Overall, as far as packaged mini donuts go, Hostess Glazed Donettes are pretty nice. I wonder if they could make a buttermilk version for better moistness.
