Review: Jack in the Box - Panko Onion Rings

Jack in the Box's Panko Onion Rings feature sliced onions covered in panko breadcrumbs and deep-fried.

I bought an order for $2.89.

These were super crispy. Compared to my memories of the previous version, there's a thicker, more airy crust to them that's also crispier. The crunch lasted too. The final one was as crunchy as the first.

Like the previous version, the rings are a bit of a blank canvas for your sauce, which is to say the breading was very lightly seasoned and the onion was very mild and just slightly sweet. It went great with ranch. For the most part, the onion was cooked enough to break easily but not so much that it was mushy.

Overall, Jack in the Box's Panko Onion Rings offered much the same enjoyable experience as the previous version but with a longer lasting, lighter crunch. They're great for dipping but might not be for you if you like a more flavorful onion ring.
