Review: Taco Bell - Steakhouse Burrito

Taco Bell's Steakhouse Burrito features a double portion of grilled marinated steak, potato bites, bacon, sour cream, three-cheese blend, and queso wrapped up in a flour tortilla.

I paid $6.19 for the burrito which also comes with chips and queso.

The Steakhouse Burrito is mostly steak and potatoes and very similar to the Steak and Potato Boss Wrap that Taco Bell wheeled out last year. The only differences is the slightly different form, the wrap includes a tostada shell, and that the burrito comes with queso rather than chipotle sauce.

Compared to the Steakhouse Nachos, the queso isn't as prevalent here. I still got a decent does of spicy heat but not so much of the actual flavor of the peppers.

With less tortilla and a tostada shell to serve as a buffer, the Steakhouse Burrito comes off tasting a good deal saltier than the Boss Wrap version. I found myself wishing they'd include some rice or beans as filler.

Beyond the salt was a nice combination of lightly marinated beef, seasoned potato, creamy cheese, and smoky bacon. While the flavors are there, the crispiness of the potatoes and bacon was missing and the "grilled" steak was more like a fall-apart braise.

While I appreciated the general flavors of the Steakhouse Burrito, it was too salty for my liking and I wished the queso featured a bit more prominently. I did enjoy it in the cup with the provided chips though.
