Review: Kettle Brand - Korean Barbeque Potato Chips

Kettle Brand Korean Barbeque Potato Chips seek to capture the flavor of Korean BBQ in gluten-free, non-GMO snack form.

I picked up an 8.5 oz bag for $1.88 on sale.

Like other kettle-cooked potato chips, the Kettle Brand Korean Barbeque  Potato Chips are thicker with a hefty crunch. These chips have a very strong, bold flavor and are certainly not for those who like their potato chips to actually taste like potatoes.  Thankfully, there is no artificial meat flavor to these chips and the Korean Barbeque seasoning appears to be mimicking bulgogi marinade.

At first blush, the chips are sweet and then lead into salty and savory notes.  The chips round out with a little spicy kick and a pleasantly lingering smokiness.  These remind me of regular BBQ chips but with no tanginess and some added heat.  The Korean Barbeque seasoning is quite strong, so it can lead to some possible flavor fatigue.

Overall, I really enjoyed Kettle Brand Korean Barbeque Potato Chips.  They offer a spicy take on traditional BBQ chips while remaining familiar enough to please most palates.
