Panda Express' Chili Crisp Shrimp features crispy-fried, tempura-battered shrimp wok-tossed in a savory chili garlic sauce with red bell peppers and onions. The savory chili garlic sauce gets some extra crunch and heat from chili crisp oil.
Chili crisp is a chili oil-based condiment with aromatics and some sort of crispy bits (it can vary from Sichuan peppercorns to fried garlic to fried soybeans). It gained in popularity in recent years as a flavorful, spicy condiment that goes well with a number of dishes.
It's a premium item that (along with other shrimp and steak entrées) costs extra ($1.25 more near me).
