Paris Baguette's Dubai Chocolate Tart features a buttery tart filled with pistachio cream and crunchy kataifi, topped with chocolate ganache and crushed pistachio pieces.
I bought one for $9.99, which was more than any other individual dessert that the chain carries (most range from $3 to $7). The tray was already half empty when I got there at noon.
The tart crust was quite buttery but not oily. It had a strong, shortbread-like crunch to it.
Inside, the pistachio cream and kataifi (toasted shredded phyllo) made a very thin layer atop the crust. Still, it managed a light, nutty flavor and a delicate crispiness.
The chocolate ganache made for a much more substantial layer and was richly chocolaty. It provided the bulk of the Dubai Chocolate Tart's flavor and, combined with the pistachio cream and pistachio pieces, made for a bit of a Nutella-like flavor, only richer.
The pistachios on top were less impactful than I thought they would be. Their flavor and crunch were very mild.
While Paris Baguette's Dubai Chocolate Tart was very good, it was a bit too pricey for my taste, and I wish there were more pistachio cream and kataifi in it. It felt like I was paying a Dubai chocolate premium. To be fair, Dubai chocolate bars are generally just as expensive, but Paris Baguette has a slightly larger, equally enjoyable Lemon Citrus Tart filled with custard cream and lemon curd for a more reasonable $6.49.
