The Takis Fuego Chicken Sandwich features a crispy-fried spicy chicken filet, chopped Takis Fuego Chips, cheddar cheese sauce, a creamy corn spread, and chili lime sauce, served on a toasted bun.
The spicy chicken filet offered good bun coverage and was crispy outside with a tender and moist interior.
The creamy corn spread tasted like a creamed corn soup reduction that I could occasionally taste as a mild and occasional note of corn. It was flecked with green chiles for a bit of heat and mixed with the cheese sauce.
The Takis Fuego Fries had a medium heat similar in level to the chicken filet and provided additional crunch. The chips and the chile lime sauce ensured that there was plenty of citrusy heat to go around.
Wendy's Fuego Fries consist of French fries topped with a Takis-inspired, chili-lime seasoning in a bag that you're meant to shake to evenly coat the fries. The seasoning was citrusy and tangy with a medium heat and just a touch of sweetness.
Although I gave the bag a good shake, the seasoning was spread rather unevenly. A few fries were almost completely coated, while others were almost completely bare. Perhaps the steam from the fries caused the seasoning to stick where it initially landed despite my shaking. Maybe it would be better to have the seasoning in a packet to avoid the issue.
Overall, Wendy's Takis Fuego Meal was nice enough in terms of flavor and textures, but I would have preferred more variety as chile-lime is the main attraction throughout the meal (save for the drink, although I'm surprised they didn't go all the way with a chile limeade).
