I paid $8.59 for a Big Arch at my local McDonald's.
Big Arch Sauce is described by McDonald's as "the perfect balance of mustard, pickle, and sweet tomato flavors. It comes off as a more mustard-forward, more complex, tangier take on Big Mac Sauce. It's familiar but different. They forgot the pickles on my burger, but I didn't miss them, as the Big Arch Sauce provided plenty of acidity.
The bun was softer but less plush than the typical McDonald's sesame seed bun. It didn't have the same spring as the regular bun. The poppy seeds added some visual appeal and a smattering of texture.
The beef patties were moist, sporting a coarse grind and a well-seared crust, providing an enjoyable mix of flavor and texture. The white cheddar was milder than American cheese. It was nicely melted and complemented the beef well.
The crispy onions provided a bit of sweetness and delicate crispiness, while the slivered onions were good for a watery crunch and onion-y bite. The lettuce was mostly there for visual appeal and color.
Overall, McDonald's Big Arch turned out pretty well. It's basically a meatier, cheesier, and slightly fancier take on the chain's signature Big Mac (minus the middle bun).
