I bought one for $6.49.
I think my local KFC was still working out the kinks on making this (or they just didn't have lettuce on hand), as mine came with pickles instead of lettuce. I didn't mind it as lettuce on a hot chicken sandwich tends to wilt quickly, while pickles add a nice crunch and acidity.
In terms of texture, the new chicken filet felt the same as KFC's regular Extra Crispy chicken breast filet. Mine felt like it had been sitting in the warmer for a while, but it was thick, relatively tender, and moist inside and flaky and crispy outside.
Flavor-wise, there was a light seasoned flavor and a respectable amount of medium heat. It was spicy enough to get my nose running, but not so much that I went reaching for milk. It's probably as spicy as you're going to get at a major fast-food chain that isn't dishing Buffalo wings.
The bun was a little stale. It was still moist inside, but the crust was somewhat hardened and dry.
Overall, KFC's Spicy Zinger Sandwich was pretty good and even better if you can get a fresh one. I enjoyed the heat, and I prefer a spicy chicken filet over a spicy sauce.
Note - Sorry, there's no cross-section shot for this review. I cut the sandwich and set up the shot, but then had a brain fart and didn't take a picture.
