Review: Taco Bell - Big Bell Box Meal

So I tried Taco Bell's Big Bell Box Meal for $4.99 billed as "the meal that's made for men."

For the price I got a large 32oz soda, Cinnamon Twists, a Crunchy Taco, a Bean Burrito, and a Bacon Club Chalupa. I checked Taco Bells website and the company has replaced the Bean Burrito and the Bacon Club Chalupa (a limited time item I believe) with a Cheesy Double Beef Burrito (off their recent 79 cent, 89 cent, 99 cent "Why Pay More" Value Menu) and a Burrito Supreme. The taco and bean burrito were kind of lackluster and I normally like Taco Bell tacos.

I really did not like the Cinnamon Twists which have a pork-rind like deep-fried texture but are lighter.  They did have an even blend of sugar and cinnamon that wasn't too sweet.

The item of the most interest to me was the Bacon Club Chalupa ($1.99 separately) which the Taco Bell describes as "tender, juicy marinated all-white meat chicken and crispy, real smoked bacon surrounded in a crispy, flaky Chalupa shell. The Club Chalupa is topped off with a creamy sauce, crisp lettuce, a three-cheese blend and ripe tomatoes." It did have a good flavor to it, I like the crispy on the outside, chewy, bready on the inside texture of the chalupa. The ingredients work well together but I have to say that they really skimp on the bacon and chicken as you can kind of see in the picture above.

  1. i hate the cinnamon twists! i would rather buy things separately and pay a little more if it means having complete control over what i order.

  2. Yeah, they should have churros! I want churros! I actually don't think you save much on a Big Bell box Meal. It's more of a gimmick and a spiffy box.
