Review: Popeyes - Onion Rings

Popeyes' Onion Rings are the best I've had from any fast food joint. These rings are battered (as opposed to breaded) in a seasoned batter and then deep fried. The price is six rings for $1.99 in southern California, which is a bit pricey but they've always given me more than six rings.

The rings are cooked long enough so that they usually break when you bite into them so that you're not pulling out the entire ring of onion on the initial bite. The batter is crispy and has a good flavor to it. I would guess they use the a similar batter as they do for Popeyes' chicken.

The rings are especially good with Popeyes' ranch sauce which is free upon request. Looking at the Popeyes' website, it doesn't seem like onion rings are available at all locations.

  1. I don't think my local New Jersey Popeye's has onion rings. I wish they did though!

  3. I just had an order of six (they gave me nine or ten) yesterday. They has a little bit of a kick to them and you can actually taste the sweetness of the onion.
